I transmigrated into the lowest-rank wolf in the pack—miss one meal and I could die. If I wanted to survive, I had only one choice: wag my tail, play obedient, and flatter the Alpha—swallow my pride along with my hunger. I thought as long as I kept my head down, I could make it through the winter. Then rut season came. The Alpha pinned me back into the den, his voice cold as moonlight: “As Luna, you will fulfill your breeding duty.” My mind went blank. “But… I’m a male wolf.” Even worse—he didn’t believe me. In his territory, rules outrank everything: once you’re chosen, there’s no way out. And the harder I tried to run, the clearer it became— He’d had his eyes on me from the start. Because this isn’t a “mistake.” It’s… possession.

Chapter 1
I woke up in the body of the pack’s lowest-ranking wolf. If I missed a meal, I might not see the next sunrise.
So I did what I had to do to stay alive, I wagged my tail, played sweet, and groveled at the Alpha’s feet.
I thought I could keep my head down and survive the winter.
Then rut season hit, and the Alpha shoved me into the den and pinned me there.
“As Luna, you need to do your part and breed.”
I was trembling so hard my legs barely held me up.
“But… I’m a male wolf.”
This winter was brutal. The pack finally brought down a gazelle, and it was just a young one, barely any meat on it.
Same as always, the Alpha ate first, and I watched from a distance with my stomach twisting.
It growled so loud I could hear it over the wind. By the time it got to me, I knew there’d be nothing left but bone.
I couldn’t take it anymore, I started inching closer.
The Alpha noticed and shot me a warning look. Normally that would have been enough, but hunger does funny things, it wiped out my fear and left only one thought in my head, meat.
When I was still about three feet away, he lunged.
He shifted into his wolf form and flashed his fangs, then clamped down on my neck like he meant it.
It hurt like hell.
I screamed, and the Alpha froze. A flicker of confusion crossed his eyes.
He hadn’t even bitten down that hard. He was just warning me, but I was howling like he’d torn my throat out.
He glanced at me again. I kept up the act, whining and shuddering like I was barely holding together.
Finally he let me go and went back to eating.
I stayed low, and the second his attention drifted off me, I crawled forward.
Then I snapped, in one quick burst I grabbed a chunk of meat and yanked it back like my life depended on it.
Food in my paws, I nearly cried with relief.
The next second, I was slammed to the ground again.
The Alpha hovered over me, teeth bared, ready to take it back. But there was no way I was letting go, I gave two sharp yelps and clutched the meat tighter.
Every time his teeth brushed me, I shrieked louder, but I still didn’t release it.
To calm him down, I copied what the weaker wolves did to survive. I lifted my head and pressed a quick kiss to his jaw.
He blinked, like he didn’t know what to do with that.
Then, looking thoroughly fed up, he tore most of the meat away and left me a small portion.
I hugged my piece to my chest and scurried to my corner. I dug out the little ember I’d been saving and coaxed it into a flame.
Soon the fire caught, and I started roasting the meat.
The pack could take human form now, but open flame still spooked them. The moment they saw the fire, they backed off like I was carrying a curse.
The Alpha looked over too. I immediately softened my posture and let out a small, submissive whine.
I might have been human once, but I’d learned wolf talk so well even my whimper sounded right.
A bunch of wolves hovered nearby, hoping for scraps. Earlier they’d been practically giddy, sure I was about to get wrecked by the Alpha.
But when they realized I was actually eating, their eyes sharpened with bad ideas.
I put on my best practiced look and flashed the Alpha a sweet, pleading smile, tipping my gaze toward the wolves circling us.
Compared to them, I suddenly looked like the harmless one.
It worked. The Alpha’s focus shifted off me for a moment as he moved to reassert his authority.
I finished the meal with my belly round and warm, then stretched out on my little bed in the corner, blissed out.
The Alpha came over anyway, eyes dark and unfriendly.
I dropped my gaze, made myself small, and the second he got close, I lifted my head and kissed his jaw again.
Since joining the pack, I’d seen low-ranking wolves survive by licking the higher-ups. That always looked a little greasy, so I tweaked it into something cleaner.
The Alpha was in human form now. Aside from the pair of fluffy ears poking through his hair, he looked like any man.
Carefully, I nudged my head against him, slow and cautious.
His expression finally eased.
“On today’s hunt, stay behind me.”
Hunt with the Alpha meant meat. I nodded so fast my neck almost snapped.
